Aeronautical Section

Aeronautical Section is responsible for servicing aviation meteorological needs under International Civil Aviation Organization regulations. The central office of this Section is located at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport Section which operates 24 hours a day, all the year round providing an essential to the Aviation industry and Guyanese public at large. A sub office is located at the Ogle Airport Inc.

The primary duties border on forecasting for aviation activities, general public weather forecast (daily and seven days) and the responsibility of disseminating hourly meteorological data for Cheddie Jagan International Airport and other meteorological station through Global Telecommunication System. The weather data, forecast and other meteorological information are issues to various airline operators and pilots for planning and execution of flight operations respectively. Products provided include aerodrome forecasts, flight forecasts, pre-flight briefing and advises of significant weather that could affect the aviation industry.
